This is an intensive 18 months live on the farm course, organized by the famous Thompson Rivers University, William Lake, Canada in collaboration with Jonathan King (Nig.) Ltd. to produce transformational, entrepreneurial, young farmers to feed the world.

Students will gain the expertise to build sustainable ranching enterprise, and apply that expertise to any agriculture enterprise in any region.

Student will learn about carbon-neutral ranching and land management practices with a focus on innovation, reducing stress on livestock and financial and environmental sustainability

During this program, students live with a host ranch family and gain hands on skills and work experience concurrently with their academic studies.

It will be a wholesome experience in Canadian ranching in the Cariboo region of Canada.

There is also the tourism aspect of the ranching program where tourists would be attracted because of the tranquil nature of ranching colony and the cheer beauty of agricultural and ranching farms.

The program could also be linked with the Central Bank of Nigeria current agricultural development-funding program for states.

We expect the state to sponsor at least three prospective young farmers.

Delegates from the University will be ready to discuss the program in detail, focusing on sustainable and regenerative agricultural development in your state.

The program should be ideal for agricultural graduates that could demonstrate keen interest in commercial production of food and love for family life in the rural community settings.

What is UNIQUE about this program?

The ranching program is unique in its requirement that students live on a ranch or farm while taking the program. This requirement gives students a built-in practicum for their course work and adds value to their mentoring host-ranch. Experiential learning on the farm immerses the student in the culture of farming and ranching while they learn the day-to-day operational tasks and responsibilities that do not emerge in class or instructional material. The program director can provide assistance in finding the right homestay match for students relocating to the Cariboo to attend the program.
