Attention: DV Visa Applicant

DV 2015 till Date: NIGERIA NOT ELEGIBLE.

JonathanKing will update you as appropriate!

Dear Valued Visa Applicant,

Nigerians are not eligible to take part in the current Diversity Immigrant Visa program (DV2015)

Reason: Nigeria has sent to the US over 50,000 immigrants in the last five years, therefore according to US immigration law; Nigeria is no longer a low immigrant country.

The visas are distributed among six geographic regions, with a greater number of visas going to regions with lower rates of immigration, and with no visas going to nationals of countries sending more than 50,000 immigrants to the United States over the period of the past five years. Within each region, no single country may receive more than seven percent of the available DVs in any one year.

However, a new immigration law is already in the making. Soon, we are likely to have a brand new US immigration law which will no longer include visa lottery.

The US Congress, as well as the Senate, have concluded debates on the new immigration law but they are to harmonize the two acts of the parliaments before sending the new act to President of the United state for his signature.

For DV 2015, natives of the following countries are not eligible to apply, because more than 50,000 natives of these countries immigrated to the United States in the previous five years:

Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.
